How Migenic® came to be
A personal experience sparked an idea. The idea became Penhygienic, then Migenic®. Since 2008, Vaktrommet has developed Migenic for healthcare workers worldwide. It is made from 100% silicone.
The journey from idea to Migenic®
A problem that had to be solved
Intensive care nurse Cecilie Frostad and Olav Eggesbø experienced an accident involving their own child and identified a problem: personal items such as pens and scissors often fell onto contaminated surfaces and were not always noticed or cleaned. That increased infection risk and compromised patient safety.
The idea was born: a practical holster for personal gear that keeps everything in place—and clean.
Foundation
A sole proprietorship is established. Collaboration begins with design agency Kadabra. Focus on 100% silicone, with slits that hold equipment in place yet are easy to access.
Penhygienic launches
Collaboration with Kadabra Design in Oslo. The first product is developed and launched: Penhygienic, an innovative gear holster for healthcare staff—with a magnet to attach it to uniform and lockers, and a replaceable badge without replacing the entire silicone holder.
www.vaktrommet.no launches to sell the product directly to healthcare professionals.
Digital push
An improved website is developed and launched. David Bakke joins the team and drives digital development. The brand is strengthened and more types of equipment for healthcare staff are added to the online store.
Migenic® equipment dock
Penhygienic becomes Migenic®—clearer brand, refreshed design, and improved functionality. More colours and two sizes of the equipment dock (6 cm and 8 cm) serve every kind of healthcare professional and department. In 2015 the product gains design protection, safeguarding its distinctive silicone form.
Personalisation and trade mark
A badge designer is integrated on the website. Healthcare staff can now customise badges with logo, colours, icons, and images. At the same time, Migenic® is registered as a trade mark, and the brand receives its official ® symbol.
The pandemic puts hygiene centre stage
During COVID-19, hygiene comes into focus globally. www.migenic.com launches for the international market.
A new digital platform
A completely new website with a modern look and improved user experience—a continuation of the design philosophy with continuous improvement.

Vaktrommet is owned by Cecilie Frostad, Olav Eggesbø, and David Bakke—a small, dedicated team passionate about making everyday life easier and more hygienic for Norwegian healthcare workers.
